Mahwah girls break through at Crusader Classic bowling tournament

HACKENSACK – Mahwah ended its 2016-17 girls bowling season with the 11th-highest team average in the Big North Conference.

They tallied a three-game 2,381 to defeat Teaneck for the girls title at the seventh annual Tom Irwin Memorial Crusader Classic hosted by Bergen Catholic.

T-Bird rollout: Mahwah returned four girls from last season’s 10-5 squad and welcomed freshman Michaella Raab, a youth travel league bowler who tossed a fourth-place 548.”Michaella is a very big addition, but not in the sense to diminish anything that the girls around her have, because you can’t do this with one person,” T-Birds coach Jim Dalessio said.

The Tiger boys and girls teams opted to make the trip North even though Saturday’s Bishop Ahr tournament was closer to home.
